Getting going at camp on Day 2. Even though it isn't hot yet, the sun is really
intense, so shade feels good! Sheik Tom has just finished his tent shelter.
The whole thing got blown upside down while we were away from camp later in the day!

A few of the cacti were blooming. This one was up by the rim. |

We were all pretty tired after climbing up to the rim. No jump pictures this day! We still had more climb to
finish the ride as well. On the right, Raphael is sacked out on the rock.

The final view from Gold Bar Rim before descending down the Portal trail.
Whew! It took us over four hours to get to this point.

A stern warning before heading along the cliff exposed section of the Portal Trail. We portaged for quite a ways before
swinging around into more friendly terrain.

Another view of the final exposed section of the Portal Trail. The trail leads to the rock outcropping in the right hand picture.
The little specs on top of the shaded rock is the rest of the group.
