Lake Isabell from above

Looking down on Lake Isabell from a high meadow.

A marmot

A couple of marmots

Marmots were hanging out on the rocks eating on our way up.

A ptarmagin

A ptarmigan

More animals! Ptarmigans were sitting on the rocks not more than three feet from the trail. Their plumage blends in with the rocks very well, and they don't move around much so you have to pay attention to see them.

Lake Isabell from above

Looking up at the Continental Divide. This is my favorite picture from this set. I like how the sky reflecting in the water and the plants provide some color in the otherwise gray scene.

High meadow

The high meadow just below Pawnee Pass, at the far right.

Pawnee Pass

Pawnee pass is this wide ridge at 12,541 feet. We didn't actually make it up there. As you can see the clouds were looking threatening. In the end all we got was some spitting rain, though.
