Marmots were hanging out on the rocks eating on our way up.

More animals! Ptarmigans were sitting on the rocks not more than three feet from the trail.
Their plumage blends in with the rocks very well, and they don't move around much so you
have to pay attention to see them.

Looking up at the Continental Divide. This is my favorite picture from this set.
I like how the sky reflecting in the water and the plants provide some color in the
otherwise gray scene.

Pawnee pass is this wide ridge at 12,541 feet. We didn't actually make it up there. As you can
see the clouds were looking threatening. In the end all we got was some spitting rain, though. |
